14.12.2004 - DMC providing data to ESA funded RESPOND project

The RESPOND project is expected to grow from the first modest trials to become a fully funded service within the EC as part of the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security system (GMES). The project currently comprises some 20 European companies involved in image processing, map production etc. DMC is the only data provider directly involved in the project, although data is acquired from many sources.

10.12.2004 - Philippines flood monitoring from the DMC

The DMC has been imaging over the Philippines region over the past few days.

This was triggered after Typhoon Nanmadol hit the north-east coast quickly followed by three other heavy storms causing major flooding.

'Satellite imagery can be used for more purposes than simply up-to-date mapping. Respond has been providing information on regional vegetation change over time, using multispectral imagery from the Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC) provided by UK company SSTL'
